Libya is a North African country founded by the Phoenicians and thereafter was ruled by Romans, Byzantium and Arab dynasties, the Spanish, the Turks, and finally the Italians. The country received independence in the year 1951 after the end of World War II. Known as 'The jewel of Mediterranean' the city of Tripoli features a number of places to visit, Libya. The Arch depicts an architecture showing Goddess Athena riding in a chariot pulled by a monster called griffin. The arch further depicts local people surrendering to the Roman forces.
