Algeria is a massive country with a wide variety of landscapes and ecological zones. The country is rich in natural heritage and is considered by many to be the most unique natural country of the Mediterranean. The Tassili n'Ajjer National Park in Algeria is one of the most popular National parks and it takes in a large portion of the Tassili n'Ajjer mountain range. This National park is located in the southeast of Algeria and you will discover a variety of natural wonders in this region. The mountain rangeis made up of sandstone and has resulted in a variety of rock arches and other landforms. All of this structure was slowly etched out by erosion. The sandstone has also contributed to the region's ability to support the larger amounts of plant life as it holds water well. The lush vegetation in the Tassili n'Ajjer National Park region is mostly woodland made up of endemic, endangered plant species. This National Park has been declared a World Heritage Site due to the growth of endangered species along with the great archeological significance of the area. The town that is located close by and providing access to this park is Djanet.
